Default Block/Coolant Jacket flush

Hey guys. My water pump took a crap on me today and started disintegrating into my cooling system. I know i can flush the radiator through the lower hose but i need to flush the block as there is metal shavings in it.

So can i just run the hose through it or do i need to remove the thermostat? Is there a drain plug on the block?

Any help would be great.

You can flood water into the water pump opening and remove a block plug or 2 on the driver's side of the block. Requires a 5/16" square drive.

Thanks cruiser. Got it all done and burped. I noticed the new pump is making a slight growling noise. It seemed to dissapate as i burped the system. Any insight into that?

Just keep an ear on it. All bolts tight on the power steering pump?

Yes sir. I'll triple check but i believe so. I saw no wobbles or play in the belt or pulleys. We'll see how it sounds this morning now that the system is purged and the engine is cold again.
