blinkers wont blink when I hit the brakes!!

blinkers wont blink when I hit the brakes!!
hello, im new to the forum .. also new to jeeps. bought my first xj a couple months ago ..1992 cherokee sport. im having a strange problem though, for some reason on the drivers side when the brakes are applied the blinkers stop blinkin and stay on steady. this only happens on the driver side i cant figure it out and i know wiring like this can be a pain in the ***.. so any help would b greatly apreciated .. also the cab light woulndt go off at all i dont know if their is any corilation here but i cant figure it out

do you have a wiring harness adapter thing for a trailer? That's the first thing I would check. The second thing would be the rear body grounds.
Cab light will stay on if the headlight switch is rotated all the way to the left, and/or if one of your door switches is grounded (or if there is a short to ground anywhere on whatever wire isn't the +12V one for your dome lights.)

nope dont pull a trialer, but i will deffetly check the grounds, and i know that the cab light comes on when you twist the **** all the way to the left but thats not whats happing i ended up jus taking the bulb out. only way it would go off lol

the driver's side one is behind the plastic panel behind the spare tire, was just in there adding a trailer wiring harness actually...

And just because you don't tow anything doesn't mean the previous owner didn't. There may have been a harness and hitch that were removed. Start with checking the ground of the light socket. If there's no ground there run a new one and you wont have to hunt for the factory gound, where ever that may be

did ya check the bulb out,people say the rear light itself is the switch to turn it on and off try pushing the lens up?

While you're checkin' grounds and wiring etc. I'd check the bulbs themselves. PO might have replaced a dual bulb with a single or vice versa. Also, one burnt element in a two element bulb could cause a similar problem. Happened to me once.

checked the grounds.. all is good there.. ill see about the bulbs .. Thanks
