Blend door question

I have a question i have searched far and wide for but cannot find. I live in new Hampshire my ac system is completely removed by previous owner so i dont care about ac but my blenddoor is broken and my heat is terrible my question is should the blend door be open or closed for heat to work??

The blend door 100% controls hot and cold. Blend door need to close off the ac side. I have some pictures I can post on monday of the inside of the box if it helps.

Be advised! There's snow coming this weekend. Starting with rain on Wednesday here in NY. You should be able to pin the blend door closed with a nail or something inserted thru a drilled hole in the airbox, after you find out where to drill it! I'm thinking the door has to be vertical to close off the air thru the A/C evaporator. I'll look thru my FSM.

Nope, different design than the WJ. The door on the XJ pivots vertically and the one on the WJ pivots horizontally.
