i will be buying some black rock 997s for my 99 4.0 4x4. i want to keep the factory size of 15x7s. my question is what backspacing should i get so that the wheels stick out maybe 1/2 an inch more than the stock ones? i will be reusing my 225 75 tires. i know the stock bs is like 5 or 5.5, so should i go with like a 4" bs? any pics maybe? should i even consider going to a 15x8?

I think you answered your own question. Sounds like you already know the numbers, you just gotta drop the hammer now.

 

4" will poke the tire out past the flares a lil bit. idk, i haven't run flares in so long but i got 15x8 black rock 942's with 4" backspacing and they look pretty good.

i suggest 4 or 4.5" and if you're ever gonna run a wider tire, like 10.5-12.5, i'd go ahead and get 15x8.
