Default Bit the bullet

Well, yesterday I bit the bullet. My wife told me to order a lift kit for the Cherokee. So I went with Iron Rock 4"(not the Long Arm though...yet). I also got some black rims on er on Friday. Anyways this is the first lift I've installed, I guess my question is, is there anything I need to look for while doing this lift? Wish me luck guys. I'll try to get a picture up later. Oh ya about how long does it take to install a lift?

You should get a couple friends to help you as its good to have them around. Get a rust penetrant like Pb Blast and SOAK the crap out of every nut and bolt for atleast a day before you start to work on them. Look at your U Joints to make sure they are in good shape. Check your front end out like your ball joints and tie rod ends to make sure they are in good shape. I am sure others will have plenty of more things to say else.

^x2 while you still have it on jack stands look for anything that could rub because of the extra height. One thing that comes to mind is the exhaust system. Other than that just follow directions, take your time, and have fun.

be aware of the passenger side sway bar mount as it will be pretty close to the coil spring now. also put the upper control arms on first then the lower ones. attatch the axle side then the body side for the lowers and the opposite for the uppers.

x2 make sure you dont take off all four control arms or you will have a pain in the *&^ of a time getting it back on. Also make sure you don't crush your thumb with the coil spring compressors I did that a few weeks ago. Also make sure you don't lose any sockets in the frame of your jeep when replacing your control arms if you do those.

1. She's a keeper....
2. Who wears the pants in the relationship?
3. Why is buying a lift kit "biting the bullet" did you not have a chance to research enough or something?

Don't forget the little things. Bump stop extenders, brake line relocation, e-brake bracket relocation, T-case drop or SYE, etc...

wow how many times i have done this with a 15mm socket on the upper control arm frame mount bolt....good thing the new ones from 1993-1996 had a piece of metal welded to them like the track bar bolt does to keep them in place when unbolting the nut!

I wish my wife would twist my arm and make me buy a new lift kit and wheels.

I am so sorry to hear that, this is a sad day.

Explain why you refer to it as biting the bullet in complete detail, beginning to end.

Cool thanks Allusion, glad to hear good things about them. Hopefully it will be sent out tomarrow and start working on it on my next days off. Wish I could figure out how to get pics from my phone to the computer.

+1 on the sway bar links. I just installed a 3" and the tips of the sway bar were hitting sometimes. I went with adjustable quick disconnects from JKS.

+1 on the extended brake lines too.

I sure do love an understanding woman. When I brought home my xj after the lift and 31" tires, all my wife said was "It looks more like a Jeep I can picture you driving". God bless them.
