Default Bigger Tires!!!

Hi Guys. I've got a 3" lift on BFG 31's. I'd like to step up to 33's. How can I do this without lifting anymore and also, how can I do this inexpensively? Also, my 91 runs great at 205K miles. My only complaint is minor. I've got a slight squeal. It's not the belt, I've replaced the belt with the right tension. Any ideas? It doesn't effect the way it drives, I just want to get rid of it.

You shouldn't have to cut the fenders that much I wouldn't think, I am running 35's on a 3" lift kit. But yeah anyways trimming the fenders is the cheapest and most effective way to clear the new tires.

Trimming sounds good. I want to get rid of my flares anyway. How much should I trim and what tool should I use to trim without butchering? I've never done any trimming. How difficult is it for a rookie?

I can't comment on the lift since my jeep is still stock but I may be able to comment on the squeal. It could be a few things. Don't rule out the belt just because you replaced it and it is tensioned right. If the belt squealed a lot before you replaced it you may have polished your pulleys. If that is the case you will have to scuff them up with fine sand paper or a Scotch Brite pad. It also could be the bearing on the alternator, tensioner (do jeeps have tensioners?) or other pulley driven accessory. Good luck, let us know what happens.

So far I am not sure of bad it rubs because I haven't wheeled it yet, due to me not having the rims I want. I want to run wider rims so I don't completely ruin my tires, and I am not totally done lifting my jeep yet.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking it might be a bearing issue, but I'll try scuffing the pulleys first. I'll also check the pulley bearings while I have the belt off.

with stock fenders it will rub big time, if not rip them clean off, and if you do highway driving i would highly recommend regearing also, or you will definitely see a loss of power and fuel mileage.

Are you trimming yours soon? If so, let me know how it goes and how exactly you did it.

i trimmed mine and it was a snap. only took about an hour and used a cut off wheel and die grinder. i made a cut about every two inches around the fender and folded them under. you will crack the paint for sure so be prepaired to do some touch up. i painted mine a different color so the cracked paint didn't matter.

every where you fold, it WILL crack. after you're done you can use some molding/trim from auto parts store to cover any rough edges. but the cracking is for sure unless you just plain cut off rather than cut and fold.
