How about a combination of your ideas? Buy the RE 3.5 SF kit without shocks and buy some BDS Shocks to go with the RE setup.

well i was trying to stay around that ball park the re kits are high but i no there good i dont really wheel that hard so i just dont want to get the rc lift sence its higher and have to buy all sorts of thing to go with it that the kit didnt have you know
basically quality over quantity. Personally I would get the best lift kit, even if it isnt as tall. Even if you dont wheel that hard you will still enjoy a better designed lift over trying to squeeze an extra inch

It will be higher at first and settle to 3.5" over about the first year. Then if you think it is too short you can add some spring spacers and shackles.

I would go with the RE, they are a good company, atleast they used to be, but this is a tried and true design and there are plenty of guys that wheel the living **** out of their jeeps with this kit and dont have any major problems because of the lift.
If you are really wanting an extra 1-1.5 inches you could always buy spacers and install those with the lift, but all the work that went into the correct steering geometry from RE just got tweaked by you. Just because something is lifted higher does NOT mean that it will perform better. technically you want high ground clearance, big meaty tires, and low center of gravity. Plus tons of Torque and mud throwing HP... but its all what you want out of your jeep
