So I plan on running a 3.5" RE lift on my cherokee now i want some soft eights but im having a hard time deciding between AT's or MT's im gonna be doing mostly on road w/ just a bit of off-road but i want something agressive but i dont want it so agressive that im slipping all over in the rain hopefully you guys can help me out also if there are any other tires i should considerlet me know my friend has General grabbers on his 97' TJ and he likes them there simular to BFG ATs but a lot less expensive i know but are the BFG's worth it and if so which ones?

I went with A/Ts because most (read 90%) of my driving is highway or street so I wanted a quiet but still capable tire and these A/Ts have not let me down. So my vote is for BFG A/Ts.

hmmm yeah the A/T seem to be great tires but are they worth it for the price?

My second set on now, got 45,000 out of first set and still had about 1/4" of tread left. I only put the new ones on for a long trip last Christmas.

If you are worried about the price I can tell from my experience that they are 100% worth it, they are excellent tires.

I got lucky and picked up a set of BFG A/T's from a local tire shop with only about 200 miles on them for 250 bucks. Originally I had planned on 32's but the price was perfect for me at the moment. In the past I have run BFG A/T on everything from my Dodge 3500 to a Samauri and they have always been a great.

Seems you've decided what you want so in that case, stay out of the mud

I've seen my share of mud-stuck rigs with the bfg at's. They do fine in everything else.

My two experiences with the bfg mt's were great. It was probably the best mud tire i've owned that had great road manners and excelled off road. The only tire that i've had that came close to it was the current tire i have now which are superswamper trxus mt's. These are radial mud terrains that are smooth like the bfg's but they don't last as long though. You can get around 40-50k out of the bfg muds if you rotate them and keep them balanced well. That's pretty much what you get out of the AT's too. Some people state that the bfg muds aren't great in rain but i've never experienced any issues in rain, and it rains a bit here. Siping them gives you the best of both worlds.

of course there are other great mud tires out there but i have no experience with them so others can chime in on those. Cooper STT's are getting great reviews from what i've read.

I run BFG M/T's and 90% of my time is on road right now. I hate the BFG A/T's never had any luck with them at all..

both are fantastic tires. if you are one of the ones who tries to stay out of mud, like me, id go for ATs. you wont regret them on the road and their tread life is amazing. But if you do a lot in hte mud MTs are great. They arent too rough, but definitly rougher on road than hte ATs. Id go for ATs though and just hit mud with some speed ot stay out of it altogether.

The super-ride kit is kinda a basic 3.5 inch lift

The super-flex lift offers more in the way of function, with swaybar disconnects. which help gain traction offroad by letting the front axle articulate and follow the terrain. The lower control arms have a ball and socket or type of a Jonny joint that allows them to pivot rather than a rubber mounted bushing at both ends that is limited to the amount that it will flex.
I have run the RE super-flex kit for about eight years and have been very happy. However, I highly recommend the leaf packs over the add-a leaf that will sag in a short period of time.
