The KM2 is a mud tire and does well as such also good in rocks. The Goodyear MT/R is not a mud tire (the MT/R stands for maximum traction reinforced) I ran the old version and they were OK, heavy as hell but OK. I know a few who had the new version and sold them because they don't clean well and grip in the rocks is lacking plus they are directional so rotating is strickly front to rear.

Similar story... the last adventure deal petersons did was sponsored by GY and the competitiors received free mtr kevlars.
The mag reported the tires did great, however I heard (shop owner with a customer in the event) that the mtr's were not well loved by the competitors.
HAving said that, those guys typically run competition tires from BFG/Maxxis/MT etc.

Bla bla bla...
I went from SuperSwamper TSL's to the km2's (mostly for the streetability) and was very happy to experience that they do better off road than did the TSL's.
We don't get much mud exposure in phoenix AZ but I can report that in rocks, wet rocks, gravel, sand and decomposed granite the km2's work very well.
