Default Better MPG from a new camshaft...really?

Searching for a new cam and its amazing how many different cams are out there...unless I want to use my stock springs, then its surprisingly difficult. Some claim better fuel economy, more power, etc, etc. Has anyone really installed a new cam with true real world driving improved fuel economy?

Just speculating here but one would assume the purchase of an upgraded cam would be for increased performance. Most folks I know that want performance aren't really that concerned with mileage.
I know that didn't answer your question but was just my thoughts.
