Default Best ways to increase horse power?

I have a 91 Jeep Cherokee and I want to increase the Horsepower on it. I wouldn't mind it being a little louder or deeper sounding either. What are the best mods you can do to increase horse power? I just want this thing to perform like a beast

It's always been the same way. You have to get more air & fuel in, light it off, and get it out as quick as possible. There's many ways to do this, but as they say, "Horsepower costs money- How much do you want?"

Yeah, that would be a cheaper horsepower solution in the short term. Until you blow that sucker up! JMO

Nitrous.

No easy way about it. Just keep it maintained and don't worry about the rest. It's a waste.

Cold air intake. i did it and i can feel the difference. and i diddnt even use a velocity thing. so i guess it doesnt make it "cold" but i dont want my xj looking gay with a cone sticking out. unless someone has found a way to hide it. then i would love to know what it is.

get performance injectors, upgrade your spark plug wires to anything over 8mm. i have seen 12mm wires precut for the 4.0l before, get an MSD ignition upgrade, get a TRUE cold air intake with throttle body spacer and get a full exhaust-headers to tailpipe. that is strait up bolt on power that you will really feel. anything past that is called STROKER =]

I have found a few ways to get more HP 1) k&N air filter your choice of cold or not 2) a proformance chip if you can get one 3) ignition up grade 4) proformace cam shaft 5) make sure it runs at 210 temp or lower but not to low 6) new headers. As for sound the new headers will help alot but i put a cherry bomb glass pack on my xj it's 26 inches by 2 3/4 inches. I cut off my pipe after the cat. and clampped it on then put a tip on it. It sounds awsome im always setting car alarms off aorund town and turning heads. hope this helps you.

Why would you want to increase your horse power? With a Jeep I would want to increase my torque and get the curve flat and high

Get a K&N filter a bigger throtle body and a throtle body spacer. You might want to get bigger pipe too. 3 inch.

Nitrous looks fun
. Supposedly they went through 13 bottles on a stock motor with 144,000 and no problems so far.
