Replacing the mechanical fan with an electric one will reduce drag on teh motor and should peop it up a bit.
I'd get a bored TB though. I don't like the idea of an electrical failure potentially causing an overheat (no power=no fans at all).

even tho i haven't done any tuning mods, i don't care for more hp, but would like more torque.
yeah, removing the mechanical fan has shown positive results. most will use a 2 speed ford taurus fan in it's place.
i've heard of many confirming the injector swaps providing better throttle response. some use dodge neon, while others swear by ford 5.0L injectors.
but for the sure fire way to get that power you are looking for, is one of the many stroker builds. i've heard of 4.6, 4.7, 4.9 and even a 5.0L strokers out of our beloved 4.0L mill.
you could build your own from a 4.2 yj/cj donor motor, or go for the gold and get this:

yes. *784 injectors for a 2000 XJ = better throttle response
the only real way to increase the power is to stroke the engine. TB spacers and jet chips are both BS and do nothing for our engine.

unless you wanna swap your engine, or slam a supercharger in there, then why worry about more power.. besides the obvious.. but the V6 is pretty peppy. the newer 3.7L puts down 100 more ponnies than my 99 4.0L. that might be a worthy swap...idk...

Well unless you got cash to blow cylinder mods are expensive and dont always work correct. Now that you have the cold air U need to give that exhaust some where to go.
Port and polishing the intake is not to hard or expensive and while its off why not change the other end and get some flow. The stock exhaust manifold is small and badly contoured.
Another well known trick to engines especially Strokers is that they run hot really hot. Keeping you're engine running cool will automatically increase efficiency. The post about the electric fan is good, change you're coolant to a quality 50/50 unless its always freezing around U, cooler thermostat, new temp sensor, HIGH FLOW water pump, multi layer aluminum radiator. All will bring the temp down.
Also making sure your engine is burning all the fuel is important. Stock injectors aren't very good and most plugs suck. I've had optimal performance with SINGLE prong iridium plugs, though expensive they work great. I also use full synthetic oil with Lucas stabilizer and a K&N oil filter. I've been having a problem though finding single prong iridium plugs, the trend is multi prong or Diamond fire. I find that the extra prongs steal/spread out the current that goes into each plug, especially with a stock alternator, not to mention that you cant gap multi prong plugs, so to say that more prongs means a SURE fire is BS. Engines wouldn't have specific gaps if it didnt matter.
