Arrow Best way to get more flex in the rear

What are the most popular ways to get more flex in the rear WITHOUT going with coils in the back.

63" Chevys? 3 inch leaf packs with 2 inch shackles? Revolver shackles?

Pictures of flex would be nice, along with any helpful information.

I already have a 4.5" lift, and would like to keep it at about that height... maybe a tiny bit higher out back. It is also a daily driver.

Thanks,
Jeep450r

First Take the Sway bar off lol.

Then you can get more flex with a longer shackle in the rear. Ofcourse a longer shackle will give you more lift.

Edit: Oops I didnt see the first time that you got a shackle.

Relocate the shackle box.

XJ shackle is nearly vertical .... which limits the swing arc.

Try a quick search (here or google) and you'll see some of the kits.

sorry for kind of a thread jack but is d/c the sway bars pretty dangerous? I live in a place with horrible roads! you actually have to drive around like a go cart track avoid pot holes, some are even up to 2 foot deep. Along with alot of turns and climbs, its very mountainous here. I'm looking around at quick disconnects but I don't really hit spots with rocks big enough that often to spend that much money for em...

You shouldn't drive around with the front swaybar disconnected. Just replace the factory bolts on the front sway with some wing nuts for a quick, cheap disconnect solution. As far as the rear bar goes, just unbolt it and toss it. It seems the common idea around here is that it has little affect on handling. Lord knows I whip my XJ around all over the place without a rear sway and it feels fine on the road. And if you ditch the rear sway you can use some of the parts from it to make yourself some upper bar pin eliminators for your rear shocks! How about those revolving tera flex shackles and relocating the shackle mounts so you dont get the 2 inch lift that they give you. Just a idea i am not to sure about it though.

Thanks a bunch!..
This is the poor man's quick disconnect I was looking at for the front...

Has anyone had any problems with this method? Are there any better methods?
So I'll just toss the rear sway bar. But then I'll have to check to see if I need longer break lines from the added articulation.

My friend is taking me to the knarliest trail on the island this weekend. I'm going to check it out and see if I'm even going to need more articulation or I can make it through with how my rig is at the moment. I would love to make this thing an insane machine, but I moved here to save money and Just Emptying Every Pocket from unneeded mods isn't really saving. Once I do one thing it's going to lead into another and another.

To get more flex out of the rear I did the following:

1.) New rear leaf springs with graphite pads between the leafs and loosen the clamps a bit.
2.) An extended rear greasable shackle. I would recommend going with a revolver or boomerang type to get more mad flex.
3.) Remove the rear sway bar and sling it in the weeds.
4.) Longer shocks of course.
5.) I don't necessarily recommend this but, I removed the parking brake links. The parking brake hadn't worked properly since I lifted my Jeep so ALL it was really doing was limiting my flex.
6.) Longer rear brake line and axle vent line.

I have been driving my Jeep for a while now with out either front or rear sway bar.

My wife drives hers also with no sway bars. Just drive it like its a jeep and not a racecar and you will be fine.

Improve your shackle angle with HD offroad Engineering

This is a very popular item with the NAXJA folks.

X2 Stryker. No sways here.

Get some shackle relocation brackets from HD offroad engineering on NAXJA for like $125. I built my own but that was the single best thing I've done for the rear as far as ride and flex. It allows the front and rear to work together offroad.

I'll post some pics later of my rear flex.

I run a 1-1/2" shackle from Rustys and RC 4.5" packs too BTW.

if you just recently lifted your jeep give your new leafs time. they take a while to break/settle in. have all RE stuff minus the RC shackles and my junk is crazy flexy in the rear, just let the leafs wear in and you will eventually get the flex you want.

x4 no sways either.

I think I'm going to order those relocation brackets. Was going to do the boomerangs, but I guess the brackets get you more flex.
