What's the best non-spicer u-joint I can get for my 96 XJ front axles that has zerk fittings?

Why not spicer? I got an advanced auto u joint on my rear shaft and needed to use a quarter as a spacer so there was no play in in.... Just replaced my axle shaft u joint with a spicer non greaseable, original was the same and worked for 26 years.

People advise against it but I get my u joints from auto zone. Done correctly I've never had an issue with them

I've used AC Delco from RockAuto without issue. They are greaseable.

Nothing wrong with Moog and they have them at advanced and Rockauto for cheap. Idk why you want non-spicer, though, as they are still the best.

I went with nongreasable because screw having to grease them, and technically speaking a grease fitting takes away structural integrity of the u joint.

There was a thread awhile back about how Moog's didn't fit right vs. Spicer, but meh...I didn't buy any of that crap, the dude wasn't using a hammer enough is all.

Looking for a good greaseable U as 3-4 years ago my mech pressed in some non-greaseable u-joints (don't know what they were) and now they're cracking again like the grease is gone out of them and needle bearings are worn out. Honestly I don't trust that he pressed them in correctly to find the true sweet spot. I've heard that if they're not exactly right they'll wear much faster.

How can you tell when you get a U pressed in that they hit the 'sweet spot?'

If you've pressed a cap on with a needle bearing In the bottom or out of place you can't hardly get the cap on and the u joint to seat correctly.
I'd say he put it on right but used some crappy AutoZone one. I had an AutoZone gold u joint go sloppy in 1000 miles.
Spicer Spicer Spicer is all I got to say about which one

^^^ I know what he means about not pressed in quite right. I had that difficulty with my axle shafts. The U joint would bind up and be difficult to turn. Couple whacks with a hammer fixed that.
