Yup I use a Stant also and run the same temp year around using the factory recommended temp.

Noting the high number of failures with the 'fail-safe' type thermostats, you might avoid them in favor of the old-school, tried and true type...

I use the Carquest premium 195 deg t-state, CQ PN is 60209. I also drill 1/4" holes at 6 and 12 to help get air out of the system.

Just my 2 cents, I've put a lot of tstats in a lot of 4.0's. Mopar brand works hands down the best, one of the nice things is no "shock" when it opens. I won't buy them anywhere but the dealer, same as cap,rotor, plug wires. They just work. That's all I can say

Yes. That is exactly what he is saying.

Whether you personally believe it is true or not true has no bearing on the matter.

You need to consider that there are other ways of doing things.

Drilling holes in thermostats does not help get air out of the system. You are actually sabotaging the function of the thermostat. It is supposed to keep water in the block and head until proper operating temperature is reached. Then it helps keep the operating temperature from dropping below its set point.
