Just my 2 cents, I've put a lot of tstats in a lot of 4.0's. Mopar brand works hands down the best, one of the nice things is no "shock" when it opens. I won't buy them anywhere but the dealer, same as cap,rotor, plug wires. They just work. That's all I can say

Drilling holes in thermostats does not help get air out of the system. You are actually sabotaging the function of the thermostat. It is supposed to keep water in the block and head until proper operating temperature is reached. Then it helps keep the operating temperature from dropping below its set point.
