Default Best suspension

Hello I am moving to maine in august to attend school and the roads are rough, to say the least. Its not off road or anything but it is some bouncy pot hole / mounds under the road type stuff. So I was wondering whats the best way to get a smoother ride? What should I replace in terms of suspension before I head up there? (coils or shocks) I dont know too much about suspension, so I was just wondering.

Thank You

Well bro if you wana keep it on the cheap but still get a nice ride.Replace your shocks first I think that a nice set of bilstiens would do the job also is your rear saging? Because most jeep leafpacks get worn and actually start to sag giving a very poor ride

Thought you say that. Get some good shocks, Bilstine or OME... A good ride is NOT cheap, Good shock are how you get a good ride, spend your money there.
Any lift springs will be stiffer. So if ride quality is you main concern and your spring are saggy go with stock XJ springs. If you want lift from what I have seen Rustys and Rough Country are the softest, so should ride smothest.

I just put bilstein's on mine that had worn stock and am very happy with purchase. I weighed the pro's and con's of every shock out there and the bilstein's won, plus they have lifetime warranty

Rough Country = rough ride, do not get rough country. And OLD Man Emu is what you want. They are made my ARB and you wont spend $1000 but its not cheap like said above. I would start with bilistien shocks. if you still want softer get old man emu leaf springs (lift or no lift- your choice) and for the front a good cheap solution is Rusty's(lift or no lift) i run their coils and they are nice and soft.

Here is some prices for you:

Shocks: $79.95 per shock
http://www.bilsteinshocks.com/bilste...year='1996'
Leaf Springs: $111.99 per leaf spring
http://www.quadratec.com/products/16...googlemerchant
Old Man Emu Coil Springs: $149.99 for both
http://www.quadratec.com/products/16...googlemerchant
rustys off road coil springs: $99.00 for both
http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...ory_Code=COILS

so now lets see the grand total(estimates)....
$320 (for shocks) + $224(leaf springs) + $149(OME coils)/$99(rusty's)= $650/$700 for a 0"-3" suspension with better ride quality and all new parts. again you may find parts cheaper so this is a rough estimate but it will give you the best ride with out having to modify control arms, driveshafts or anything other than springs and shocks.

hope this helps and good luck!

Yeah I just got done purchasing everything except the leaf springs. 320 $ on bilstein shocks, and some heavy duty coils at 100$ a piece. Going to do a 3 inch lift in it. I also bought whole new front end steering / suspension package cause mine was starting to get old
at least i wont be bored next week it will be christmas from the fedex guy for a week strait
