Default best rear view mirror glue?

I have put the rearview mirror back on the windshield twice. And now it has fallen off again. The first time was my fault I didn't scrap the old glue off well enough. The second time held for about six months till my passenger hit it with her head.

What's the glue everybody has good results with?

I have no idea what glue it was, but when my ex flew across the seat and smoked the mirror it came off and took a chunk of the windshield with it.

The stuff the glass shops use. Seriously. I went through this four times on my pickup with the parts store kits, all while following the directions to the letter. Sometimes it would hold for a couple weeks, other times a couple days. Took it to the glass shop and it's been good ever since. (About a year and a half)

It wasn't free, but the 12 or so dollars they charged was well worth me not having to screw with it anymore.

I like 5 minute epoxy. The kind that have the 2 tubes that you push out and mix the blue and clear. you can cap it and reuse it and you will use it again. i like squeezing it out onto a paper plate and mixing and applying with a nail. after you mix, put the metal piece on the window and use masking tape to hold it in place over night.

I kept bouncing my mirror off in my XJ. I tried a couple of times with the rear view mirror glue kits and they just wouldn't hold. I got some of the Gorilla Glue gel super glue type stuff and it hasn't come off again since.

I use to own a couple of auto detail shops and we were always knowing rear view mirrors off. I found the Permatex one with the seperate activator and adhesive worked best. None of the single glues or tapes seemed to work well. And clean the area very well.

sux they charge you, i've had mine reapplied a few times, no charge. they do it for free here cause it's a safety thing that the mto helps with.

but yeah, clean off any on the glass with a razor then mix up some epoxy or gorilla gel and reapply mirror. do it late in the day so it can set over night.

Thanks for the advice guys! I had no idea glass shops did this for free, and I found one that did! Can't beat that!
