I am in the process of building a stroker out of my 4.0 in my 87 Laredo. I haven't pulled it yet. I'd like to get some input on the best way to de grease the engine. Im thinking brake cleaner......alot of it. I want to do my engine bay as well. My block has the usual build up of grease, dirt, burnt on oil etc. My overall plan is to leave the block clean, not paint it because this Jeep is a daily driver for me. I did hear recently that simple green is a good cleaner for this kind of thing, but I don't have any expirience with it. Suggestions?

if there is alot of junk in there take it to a diy car wash. some places dont have it but it might. is the wheel/engine cleaner. its a degreaser that sprays out of the pressure washer. it works pretty well for the big stuff. then you just spray it off. then for the more detailed wash i just used bbq grill cleaner.

Purple power has never failed me though. when you have it on the engine stand, a rough rag, putty knife and some patience works well.

Thanks for the suggestions
Question about the simple green though. I was told earlier today that after using simple green on my engine/engine bay I will need to blast the cleaned area with brake cleaner or degreaser to get the residue off? It sounded like BS to me, but...that isn't true is it?
