Best guide for engine removal and install.
I am going to be taking an engine from my 95 Jeep XJ with a bad transmission and put it in my 93 4x4 Cherokee with a bad engine.
I know a quality guide is essential to the process. Does anyone have any advise on this?
Is there a definitive thread out there on how to remove and reinstall and engine in these things?

Any repair manual will give you a course to follow. But it really is as basic as you would think. Remove the hood, radiator, exhaust, etc.. unbolt your mounts and trans. and pull forward and up. Getting it back in can sometimes be a little more tricky but it still goes back in easily. Everyone here can help you so don't be intimidated. It's just a engine.

On the tranny "See section on torque converter" Mark torque converter and remove. What the F is the torque converter!!!
Needs more pics and more in depth direction. I still have to pull one out of my 95 to replace the one from my 93. Maybe I will try and document my trials and tribulations.

I did one end of the winter past on our '97. It's basically the same as your '95.
The swap is extremely straight forward and relatively uncomplicated. You really don't need a manual for it if you have any mechanical aptitude. I'll also be glad to speak to you about it if you want.

Here's a good one I found a while back. The only thing i will say is don't try and pull it like they did (with the torque converter attached still)

I ain't no gen u us and I done did it. Just be ready for em 2 funny lookin bolts on top of the tranny. They are a external torx head, E12 I think. The best tool would be a rachet wrench but, it only comes in a set of 3 which is a hundred bucks. I cheapoed out and got a socket but there ain't enuff room for it and would have gave 2 hundred for the wrench at the time. If you're careful the wiring will just lay back down in place and snap back together. Easy peasy jeepaneasy.

1.) Take lots of picts... especially when you start. All plugs, etc.
2.) It seems easier to me to pull the whole shebang. Engine Trans and transfer case in one piece. Then work on them out of the vehicle and put them back. I think this depends on your aframe

though. I used my barn roof to hold it all.
