While tracking down a squeal on my jeep, I came across my water pump pulley and it has a slight dent in it. Just wondering if this would cause a noise? I'm assuming it will wear out my water pump and everything quicker Also? It's a new water pump and motor and new everything really. It's got less than 300 miles on it so I know no major damage has been caused.

depending on the size of the dent, that can throw off the balance of the pulley. This can cause a wobble and wear out the bearings in a water pump. Now, this is an extreme condition, so unless its a large dent or its been that way for a long time and you've seen the pulley wobble, it probably isn't it. Do the pulleys have any glazing, or does the belt have any glazing / cracks?
