Default Belt tensioner quick question

Just a quick question my belts slipping to the point my battery is draining and I just need to know if I need to turn the bolt clockwise or counter on the tensioner its in the negatives and my tools are all frozen so things are interesting to say the least lol

Turning the tensioner bolt CLOCKWISE adds more tension.

i would grab your serpentine belt by the tensioner bracket and twist it... shouldn't be able to go past 90 degrees

Yeah, you have to turn that bolt clockwise. Just make sure that you loosen the other four bolts first. And, don't forget to re-tighten them up afterwards.

I was thinking, wth does he mean with the 4 bolts....but then I realised....I have a RHD and you guys dont....my belt tensioner is on via the alternator/alt pulley that is located were your AC compressor lives...

IC. Yeah, for most of us, the belt tension adjustment is on the power steering pump. Next time, please mention the right hand drive, it'll cut down on confusion and get you an answer quicker. I never think of RHD XJ's unless it is mentioned, as they are not the norm for most of us.
