Default Belt shredding - Crankshaft pulley spacer?

I have replaced two belts now on my '88 4.0L. The place where I am getting my tires put on today said it is due to the fact that I am missing a crankshaft spacer and causing the pulley to be out of alignment. Does anyone know what this part is? I cannot find it at any of the parts stores online.

Crank shaft spacer..?
How is your harmonic balancer? The rubber damper is known to wear and shift out of place. Which would make the belt ride out of alignment and eventually self destruct.

^ Do what?

Put a straight edge on some of the accessories and see if you can see any misalignment. Do all the pulleys run true; have you looked at it running. If the belt was out of align then there should be some rub marking on the edges of the pulleys

Thanks for your input guys. When I pick it up and get it home tonight I will have to tear into it. I have no idea what they are talking about with the spacers. I will check the harmonic balancer and see if that is the issue.
