belt movement on fan pulley
Just replaced the water pump - 96 xj. Everything works well but the belt going over the fan pulley moves side to side about 1/16th of an inch, so it it noticeable.
1. I had the fan/clutch unit upright for two days but it got knocked over and was horizontal for about 4 hours.
2. I had a difficult time re-tightening the bolts to the fan. But they are tight enough that a right belt slips when trying to tighten them more.
What would you recommend troubleshooting or suspected problems?
For future reference what is the best way to re-tighten those fan bolts. (I have searched and have not found a good reference.)
Thanks ahead of time.
