Quote: I just checked my 98/2001 power steering pulley...the pulley is exactly even with the center shaft. No over or under lap .I will try and get a picture tomorrow
Can you also post a photo of where the belt lies on the water pump pulley, particularly the back side.

Sadly when it all lines up, its tough to tell where his might be off. I am running the gates micro v...on amazon for 25 bucks-ish very happy with it. It runs somewhat toward the back of the water pump pulley and way back on the fan drive pulley but is never too far to be "unsupported" in any amount by those pulleys..meaning there is pulley under every section of belt...no overhang

Are you missing a bolt right here?

I think so. I have no idea what happened to it as there was not a bolt there when I got the car. It seems flush, would it cause problems?

It might if that's letting the mount shift forward there.

The belt that is on the car now is the old belt I replaced 2 years ago with a special quiet belt because it was squeaky. When I put that belt back on to replace the shredded belt, it was not squeaking. I was also able to make it much less crooked by prying with a crow bar when tightening the pump. Today It started squeaking/squealing really loudly, and I backed the pulley out a little more with the tool and it stopped. The pulley still looks straight. Here is how the center of the pulley looks. Is this much backing out going to cause problems like the pulley coming off, or can I leave it as is?
