Pull the belt and turn all pully's fast by hand. If one sounds or feels a little funny then replace it. Or you can put a long screw driver on each pully with the motor running. Please use caution when doing this. You should be able to hear the bad one.

Belt issue and battery light issue are separate. There is a bad pulley, 2 idlers, ac waterpump or power steering, alternator you changed or the belt is loose or too big.
Did you test LOAD the battery? Were you having starting problems or JUST the idiot light? Could be a loose or dirty connection. What voltages are you getting?

Check the pulley on your main crank shaft balancer. On my Jeep the pulley actually started separating from the balancer. The pulley had actually walked forward away from the motor about a quarter inch. The belt would, squeal like a scalded Jackalope until the pulley mismatch shredded it. Infortunately, I'd never seen this happen to a balancer pulley before so It took shredding two belts before I figured it out. If you look at it close. The pulley is only attached to the balancer by a rubber type stuff. Kind of a cheesey design but, my new balancer has been good for over two years now. I hope this helps you.
