Finished it, and I think it looks great..

Did front bumper, Grill, and headlight housings..all fenders, and rear bumper...

Added the trim below the doors just for fun...Plan on doing the rocker panels in a couple of weeks...

This stuff is great...

Thanks, it's a lot of work though.. Of course I probably made it harder than it should be..I have nack for that...

so what do you guys prefer more? Spray on or roll on, or a combination?

 

i like spray on since its alot easier to apply and just as easy to touch up

 

Spray on was very easy to apply, and much cheaper..Looks really good, and is holding up just fine..

 

Works good on the inside, too.

Upon diagnosing I have a water leak in the back somewhere, I tore into it today since the weather wasn't 20 degrees.

I think the majority of the water was coming in on the passenger side rear wheel well. Where I did the cut/fold on the 1/4 panel, it appears I cut a lil' too deep and created a series of decent sized holes(bout the size of "o", here). I RTV'd them up after cleaning the surface.

I removed my rear carpet to do all this and it was just absolutely soaked with water.......done/ruined/finito. I figured WTF and just use my left over bedliner stuff to do it up. So I did...but not before patching a whole under the rear seat where the water had pooled and rusted a 3" hole just above the muffler.

I found a piece of heavy gauge steel around the garage. Cut a small square large enough to cover it up and attach to to good metal. U used a hammer and bat to form the metal. I used some seam sealer and contact cement on the patch panel and then drilled/screwed it down(this isn't a seen piece, it's UNDER the rear seat). I then RTV'd the edges and once dry I bedlinered on top of that again.

The liner stuff was nearly dry in the cargo area and I really REALLY wanted to put some carpet back there. Found an old roll of black speaker box carpet in my attic. Did a rough cut on it and viola!!!

It's still got a small crease in it from being rolled up, but it'll come out. I'm also going to use some sound deadener back there. They have a huge roll at Home Depot called QuickRoof....and it's great. It's like 15 bucks for ****load of it. Peel and stick.

Over all, i'm please with the look and hopefully this keeps the water out and that musky smell I get when it rains.

 

I like the looks of the bed liner alot. Im switchin all 4 of my doors out next weekend and the donors are red and my jeep is white so the spray liner will solve alot of issues I have been battling.

 

I did this on a few vehicles. Best part is you can tire shine it. Talk about lookin' clean.

 

I have used both, and actually prefer the roll on. I think in the longrun its cheaper, you get a lot more for the price... well for the walmart cheapstuff anyway. Herculiner is a lot thicker tho, and a lot more spendy.

 

Looks good... what kind of bedliner did you use? Got any close up pics of it?


How does the other stuff (I assume you are talking about the Rustoleum?) compare to Herculiner as far texture? I bought the Herculiner kit for $70 to do my entire interior floor but I haven't tried it out yet. I know it's a good durable products but I'm hoping it's not so rough textured that it looks weird inside a vehicle.

Anyway... this thread has me also thinking about doing my flares and maybe some interior panels with the rattle can stuff...

 

I just used the WalMart RustOLeum roll on stuff. Used a brush supplied in the "kit".
