Question Beef up/fix my jeep cherokee

Hi,
I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee with stock everything.
First off, when i get on the freeway and go 50+ mph, the car shakes vigorously, especially when I am going that fast over a crack or mis-leveling on the freeway. Its really weird and very scary. I dont know if its my suspension or my alignment. Please help.
Also, I've had my car for almost 3 years now, and I've always wanted to do stuff to it, but I never came around to it. I want to start now, but I dont have any real ideas as to what I should do.
I want to make my car sound louder and nicer, but i'd rather not spend all that money on an exhaust system. Is there another way to make your car louder. Please provide directions on how to do it.
I've been seeing something about a coffee can? I dont know what that means though.
Also, what are some other inexpensive mods that would either enhance my performance or the look of my car. Thank you!

Shaking is called Death Wobble. Louder buy a Flowmaster 40 muffler. Coffee can refers to the type of exhaust on a You see on a Honda Civic

Just for fun ..... get all four wheels rebalanced.

It might just be that simple.

Worn suspension can cause it too... Check ball joints, tie rod end links and all bushings up front. If all is solid, get it aligned or check it in the drive way.

You should concentrate on sorting out your suspension FIRST. It may be as simple as bad shocks, but could include worn steering parts.

My 1996 doesn't have the "death wobble" and still steers tight and responsively despite having original steering parts. It has had the shocks replaced.
