have you done this? im hoping i could buy some spray on bed liner (let me know of a good brand that isnt too pricey) and cover up my rockers and rails and maybe stop some water that seeps through when ever i get too deep. do you think this would work? and if you've done it i would love to see some pictures of it. and im not talking about doing it on the outside of my jeep, i want to do under it bcz thats where the water is getting through and i want to avoid ripping my carpets out bcz its my DD. thanks

 

Don't think you could ever water proof the underneath....water will go where it wants to.

 

well im not expecting miracles here but like as soon as i hit the water, it seeps through under my doors and i was hoping that spraying some bed liner near the rails and rockers might slow it down a bit.

 

Nope it won't. Pull your carpet and then pull your drain plugs out and you won't care if you get water in it anymore.

The carpet has some nasty insulation on the back of it so it is wise to pull that insulation off anyway (it creates rusty floor boards)

 

well i cant pull the carpet, its my DD. ive only had one situation where a shop vac was extremely needed and i got all the water out. so your basically saying no matter what i do i cant even help a little bit with the water?? i think there must be something..im open for any suggestions.

 

my rear bumper is getting a little rusty...could i bed line it? any pictures of it done.thanks

note the carpet liner on the trany tunnel, I had a bout w/rust myself, removed the driverside carpet I have all intentions on removing all carpet and bedling interior

how long have you had that bedliner on for? i had some cheap kind and it chipped off in some spots

 

so im gonna do my rear bumper and prob. the door steps just under all the four doors. any ideas on what i should use to rough it up so the duplicolor bed liner will stick? i have a 5" rotary sander (if you could tell me what grit sand paper to use that would be helpful) and i could buy some hand sand paper if it will do better in the crevaces. thanks for the tips guys.

 

I just herculined my rockers and door jambs and fender lips. I used a read scotch brite pad to scuff up the paint (per suggestions I had read on here, prior to doing the project).

 

I've only had it on a few months. It seems tough and I did much research prior to purchasing it and saw no negative reviews. Many of the Wrangler guys were putting it in the inside of they're jeeps and even at that there was no ill reports.

No matter what it has to be better than the rust that was starting to develop at my rockers.

For prep I just hit the area to be applied w/some 100 grit sand paper and then cleaned it w/some Acetone. Personally I wouldn't mess w/the cheap/chessy stuff, I always follow the philosophy do it right or not at all.
