If your talking front wheel bearings I'm currently searching for the same answer. According to the Haynes manual they tell you it requires special tools and take it to a pro.

front wheel bearings are simple and only need a 12 point 1/2 inch socket and a 36 mm. and a bfh. the wheel bearing hub is sortof tapered.

Thanks for the reply, I was wondering what was up as I've never run into front wheel bearings being all that difficult but I've never done em on an XJ.

yea its not to bad i removed my rf twice to do balljoints and ujoints.
just take your time and use plenty of patience as the bearing can take some time to get off. pb blaster- wd everything. makes it easier

hey i have a question if you dont mind me asking on here instead of starting a new thread. my front passenger side bearing was bad and i went out and bought a brand new timkin hub assembly, took it home and took it out of the box to see it in its glory. i spun it in my hands and to my dissapointment i could feel a clicking as i turned it. is this a deffective one or just something ive never noticed before that happens in all of them? thanks if anyone knows
