This morning when I fired up my '99 Cherokee Classic and backed out of the driveway, I noticed I had no power steering. Then, I noticed that the "check gauges" light was on, and my battery guage was at 9. It's usually sitting in the middle at 14. I put it in park and sat for a second, put it back in drive and the battery gauge popped up to normal and my power steering came back.

I made it on the 20 min drive to work without incident. This has never happened before. I don't know if it's worth mentioning but it was wet as hell out today. I drove through a huge puddle on the way out of the driveway and it'd been raining heavily all night.

Thoughts?

 

I would check to see if your belt is tight , it could be on the loose side .
