Default Battery gauge blowing fuses

So I posted yesterday about my evap solenoid not working. I traced the problem to a 15 amp micro fuse in the engine bay fuse box. But if I put a new fuse in it blows immediately...even a 30 amp.

I'm thinking this all started when I replaced my battery cables with 4 awg cables from the battery. Is this too big of a cable to run directly to that fuse box? Any suggestions??

Wire size doesn't matter. Think of electricity like water flowing through a pipe. Where water is the electrical flow (current) and the wire is the pipe. You essentially put in a larger pipe. The electrical current (water flow) will stay the same. Looks like you have a short. I'm not sure what devices are on that circuit but an FSM will help.

Time to break out some schematics, open up wire bundles, and don't forget to grab a beer.

Yeah it looks like the fuel pump relay is also on the circuit. I'm not having any issues with the fuel so I'm thinking it has to be just on the solenoid side?

Ok so the wire is also connected to the aux fan and ac fan clutch (which now thinking about it aren't working either)...guess it's time to keep tracking

first off never replace a blown fuse with a fuse rated for a higher amperage. There is a reason why they put a 15 amp fuse in that spot. You will risk burning up wires or a relay, or what ever else is in the circuit that the fuse is there to protect.

If this all started when you replaced the cables, go back and double check your work. Just curious is there a reason why you changed the cables and went up in size? and what size wire came originally?
