Default Battery Cables

Just doing a sanity check here. FROM the battery, the Positive cable goes to the starter and negative to the passenger side block right? 87 Jeep Cherokee 4.0

you're right, but there should be a small signal wire that goes from the positive battery connector to the pdc. then back down to the small signal lead on the starter.

Two cables off of the positive post - one from the battery to the screwpost on the starter motor relay (main distribution point,) and the other down to the large screwpost on the starter motor solenoid.

One from the negative post - runs to the pax side of the block, about 2/3 of the way back, retained by the dipstick bracket support stud (which is threaded 3/8"-16, and may be easily replaced with a screw if it gets lost.) The chassis is grounded by way of the engine block (braided strap from firewall to driver's side of cylinder head,) but will benefit from a dedicated ground from the battery negative post to the passenger-side fender liner.
