Default Battery Cable

Hey guys..Wanted to get your opinion before I head down to the auto parts store. I just bought a 98' XJ and I noticed that someone for some reason cut (and did ****y twisty splice job with a smaller guage wire and a too small loop terminal then wrapped it with Elec tape) the primary possitive lead that goes down in the wire loomb and along the passenger side of the engine block. I'm assuming this cable goes down to the hot terminal on the starter, and there for it would be a standard type battery cable??? Or is it something more complicated than that. I thought maybe if I asked you guys I wouldn't have to depend on the auto part guy's knowledge or lack there of... Thanks..

The oem battery cables on the XJ is a bit weak. I ordered a set of cables from here:

http://www.jeepersandcreepers.com/10701.html

and I must say that they are works of art! Great folks to do business with as well. Check them out before you buy any cables.
