I'd say use Dakota leafs. switch and swap between stock XJ and the Dakota to get what you want for height.
You can also use S-10 leafs but from those I've talked to that have ran them, there a bit stiffer..

S-10 or dakotas work fine adjust height accordingly. The reason you use a b pack is to be able to build a leaf with the height you want on the cheap. Mix and match just be sure you laminate them in correctly, and always start witht the Cherokee main spring

My bad it can be as small as a 500 lb difference, still you wouldthink the bigger truck would have the stiffer springs.

The cherokee bastard pack has been used before to net about 2" of lift or so, I don't think it will live up to your 4" goal though. Here's an article on a budget boost done this way...

Considering your goal I would shoot for some Dakota leafs to make your bastard pack out of. They have an almost identical spring rate as the XJ, which is what gives them their smooth ride. The S10 is a bit higher spring rate but it works well too, especially if you carry alot of gear or something in the rear of your Jeep.

So Im understanding the bastard leaf pack idea. What I dont understand what you are doing for the front coils? Spacers? Springs? Ive seen you can use f150 springs but it rides like garbage.

Me and my friend are planning to do this to our XJs. Mines a 96 4dr and his is a 90 2dr. Does it matter what year Dakota the springs come from?
