Default Basic /ways on maintaining our beloved xjs for dummys

ILL START WITH THE FIRST 10 IMPORTANT BASICS. WHICH IS MOSTLY ALL I KNOW. LOOKING FOR PROFESSIONAL ADVICE ON MORE.
please post some pics of your xj.
1.OIL CHANGE; SYNTHETIC/LUCUS. THOUGH MOBILE 1 SAYS GOOD FOR 25K MILES. I STILL DO IT ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH I DRIVE.

2. WASH/CERAMIC WAX FREQUENTLY ESPECIALLY IN WINTER SALTY ROADS. MOST IMPORTANTLY, DRY IN DOOR WELLS, UNDER ROCKER PANELS, BACK HATCH.. UNDER HOOD..ANYWHERE WERE WATER SITS AND FESTERS. Armeral

3. CONSISTENTLY CHECK OIL AND TRANNY OIL IF YOU HAVE AN AUTOMATIC.MAKING SURE ITS PINK IN COLOR. I NEED ADVICE ON MANUAL TRANNY CLUTCH MAINTENANCE
5. UNDERCOAT. IM BROKE SO I JUST GOT CAN OF FLUID FILM AND SPRAYED EVERY WHERE UNDERNEATH, AROUND ENGINE COMPARTMENT. ETC

6. A LUBE AROUND OIL CHANGE TIME. IF YOU DYI, CHECK UNDER THERE AT YOUR BRAKE LINES, HANGING WIREING , .. THIS IS WHERE I NEED MORE ADVICE ON .

7. PAY ATTENTION TO TIRE WEAR , PRESSURE, ALIENMENT, BRAKING .

8. ALWAYS WATCH GAUGES, TEMP/ OIL PRESSURE.

9. IF YOU SEE RUST AT ANYTIME, ANYWHERE,ANY SIZE OR PROGRESSION. DON'T PUT IT OFF, BE RID OF IT ASAP. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE UNIBODY. UNDER COATING IS MOST IMPORTANT FOR ME. NO FRAME, NO JEEP

10. OFF ROADERS, YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO. MY JEEP AND I ARE RETIRED .

11...
in love 💕 with my 96/5, speed manual.
I don't ever want to drive another vehicle. I know the basic maintenance hense oil change etc. Always always used Mobil 1 with Lucas on
my 98 limited AWD. 350k miles with no signs of stopping before I rolled.
I had since 2007 I rolled in March. I cried for 2 days after my accident.
My father puchased new in 98 and gave it to my when I gave birth to my son.
MY dad and I never experienced any issues with engine failer. Just simple things that wear.
Only main problem was RUST@!

So, my 96 has no rust Anywhere with original paint.
The manual tranny made her purfect in my eyes that dried my tears when I brought her home.

Only rust was flooring. I replaced the floor panels ( cheap) had a friend weld it.
last week when I replaced cat, the bastard didn't cut out the old rusty floors just placed panels on top.

I have PTSD over rust issues, so I'll be under there cuting, grinding all that old floors as best I can.
The uni body in purfect condition.

be back with my pics

Good list, to yours I add....

A. Oil the hinges, this keeps the hinge pins working, this reduces pin wear, and makes a nice easy to move, not squeaky door or hatch. Do likewise with the latch mechanisms on the doors.
B. Graphite in the key holes, keep your locks lubed, they will last much longer this way.
C. after a heavy rain or extensive housing down, check carefully for leaks on to the floors and trunk area make sure you dont have water getting under the carpets!
D. If you can keep the car under cover the paint and interior will last longer.
E. Only buy old cars, new cars are junk.

I have owned some cars for over 40 years, and they were used to start with, I believe in preventative maintenance.
