Ball joints
I'm getting ready to replace ball joints on my 96 XJ and I was curious what ball joint tools you guys/girls recommend for the job. I would rather not rent one from the auto parts places because they are usually junk and not really make specific. Thanks for the info.

When I last replaced mine, I rented the one from AZ. It worked just fine. I didn't have any problems with it. I used just what was in the set, no other adapters needed. Mine's a '91, by the way.
Just use the one from the parts store. It should have all the adapters and fittings. You will need a size 13 star socket to get the three steering knuckle bolts off. And a big *** adjustable wrench for the castle nuts. Set the truck steady on stands, you will be using a lot of force to get those things off and back on.
