Jacked up my xj and grabbed the tire at 12 and 6 and it has play in it. I changed the upper and lower ball joints today. Still has play in it. What else could it be? It has has a minor woble at around 45 mph too... thank you

 

i had that same play in the tire and highway wobble 2 weeks ago.. i eventually figured out what it was when my wheelbearing came apart and the wheel almost fell off. :X

look really closely at the wheel/hub bearings when you wiggle the tire.
is there any play in the steering wheel?

Most likely your wheel bearing. Could also be the axle u-joints, but you should be able to see those move if you have a helper to move the wheel while you are underneath it.
