Looking into new balljoints, I noticed (on Rockauto.com and other sites)
"Rear Dana 35" is mentioned with some of them listed for my 1997 Cherokee 4.0 (Sport, stock).
As far as I know that is a rear axle (not a front) and the rear axle has no balljoints, so since I have the 8.25 Chrysler rear axle, I was wondering:
why is this mentioned? Do I need to consider my rear axle when ordering (front) balljoints?? Can't see why.

No balljoints in any rear axle. I have heard that some ford rangers had a d35 front axle.

To answer your question though, you need dana 30 ball joints, 2 uppers and 2 lowers. All xj's have a d30 in the front from factory. Whether you have a d35, d44, 8.25 makes no difference on which parts needed for the front axle.

 

That's what I thought as well.
It's just weird they don't mention anything about the front axle, just the words " Rear Dana 35" are added with the part(s).
Maybe because ALL front axles (stock) were D30's, they don't mention that. But you can understand the confusion here.
