Can someone give me symptoms of a bad transfer case? Mines been running dry for at least the past 5k miles and I'm guessing a lot longer before that also as it has a serious leek after filling it up. Im having a few problems such as clunking when going from reverse to drive even after new pecision u joints. Some pretty decent vibrations that might have been caused by my lift, I'm not really sure and somr weird wrrrring noises that come from the back when accelerting as well as some weird rattling noises that occur when I'm on the brakes stopped in drive. A little info it 2001 aw4 nv231 4x4 d35c 4 door 157xxx miles

 

Replace the t case I'd say and go from their, and jon ask kramer tomorrow he might have some ideas, I haven't worked with transfer cases besides in auto with you that's it.

 

He gave me a guys number but i was hoping for something cheaper then $300. And i wanna know what problems havinf it rebuilt will solve and what others ones i still have to figure out. I'm not even sure if the case is bad or not, all i know for sure is thst it pisses atf allover my driveway lol

My case was split from the chain being slung off. I picked one up on craigslist for $100

 

Was it making any noise or vibrating before it happened?
