Default Bad Trail Day

Okay, ****ty day on the trails today... twisted and peeled my driveshaft, shattered my taillight lense, as well as my rear window...

and as stated in previous threads, i already smashed the front clip pretty well.

my question... theres a 99 2dr cherokee near me with a bad engine and no interior for $800 would it be wise to buy it as a parts truck or pay $450 for everything i need from the local junkyard?

thx,
paul

If you think you could make it work then yes it would be worth it.

Not mention the other things you could get that you might sell or save for future needs. If you sell the stuff you don't need then you may come out with spare money in your pocket too.

DONT DO IT. You can buy a running jeep for 800 bucks. I just bought one yesterday for 700. Just search the heck out of craigslist give it a lil more time. I live an hour south of louisville. I search every cities craigslist that is 200 mile from me. And i found this one in cinci 144 miles away. Guy didnt know anything about jeeps. Engine needed some work so i talk the guy down from 1000-700 and DROVE it home. Just be patient the moment you pay 800 for a messed up jeep is the time you will see them running for around the same price.

Just did a lil search in my area again to see what was available. And i see a 87 with a 6in lift on boggers. The interior is shot but the vehicle runs. He bought it like it is a year ago for 1500 and is trying to unload it now for 900. He just doesnt know what he has. Check out louisville craigslist

http://louisville.craigslist.org/car/646292607.html

He says its an 86 but they didnt have the 4.0 in the 86. So it has to be an 87. And the 87 laredo and wagoneer had the D-44 if i had the money i would go there and talk him down to about 6 and pick it up.

thx for all the input, and XJ Stryker, i took ur advice and kept looking. i found two things: a 96 4dr, running, with title ($900) and a 98 2dr, running, w/o a title ($675). im sure i could talk either of them down atleast another 100, but the 4dr driveshaft wont work for me will it? and how difficult would a 98 clip conversion be?

If you buy that 86 make very sure it has the 4.0. That v6 they put in was a huge POS.

the first post, i twisted my driveshaft, shatered my tail lense and hatch window. plus i crumpled my clip a month ago and crushed my exhaust a few weeks ago. so im looking for parts trucks.

so its either a 96 4dr or a 98 2dr but i dont know which is more compatable for under $1000. otherwise theres a 95 identicle to mine for $1800 a few hours away from me.

Ah ic.

Well I would assume that you mean the rear DS in which case yes IIRC they will work but still I would measure to make sure.
