bad mpg help
i just bought a stock 1993 cherokee xj with 170k on it. i put full syn oil in, new air filter, new brakes all the way around, radiator flushed, 4 new tires 235/75-15, out in some fuel injector cleaner. im getting about 50-60 miles to half a tank..... i know i need to replace the damper, tie rod, steering column shaft, and sway links. would any of that contribute to bad mpg? i was going to order a new 02 sensor but cant find how many a 93 xj needs, and order some spark plugs (any recommendations?) or where should i start looking for the problem?

According to Rockauto, 93s only have an upstream. Use a NTK sensor.
I use Champion Copper plugs. They're cheap and the 4.0 likes them.
How does she shift? Smooth? I'd do a few transmission fluid drain/fills just for the hell of it. Use Dex/Merc.

Check out that thread. One adjustment I'd make is that instead of opening the TB to WOT with your hands, just go press the gas pedal down...

First thing I might suggest I'd is to run several tanks with Seafoam added to a full tank of gas. It remains one of the very best injector/carb cleaners and it works if that is a problem. Then a full tune-up the works when finished run the OBDII for any fault codes.
This is where I started when I bought my XJ after I replaced the exhaust system, windshield, driver/passenger window regulators, complete brake job everything was shot, then the lights. Oh yes these were just so it would pass inspection so I could drive it to have other things repaired instead of hauling it around on a trailer
Was a bit more than I had planned before I started on planned upgrades
