really worth checking out, does you engine oil stink with fuel? pull the stick and smell it. possible injector overfueling.

fluids, i run synthetic in both diffs and in the engine, last tank I got was 23MPG, highway. all highway, that's all i do. 100kph 62mph
225/75/15 tires, Cooper Discovery ATR's no lift/stock mostly everthing.
119,827kms on the clock. 74,891.875 miles barley broken in. 98' Cherokee

is your check engine light on?

Hey Pegger! Got snow already? Christ no wonder they call it Winterpeg.
I just did a few trips back and forth between London and Windsor and got 23 mpg. Didn't believe it so I did it again just to check.
Just driving around town here I typically get 400 to 450K a tank. Thats about 66L
I haven't done the math but I'm ok with it.

OK did the math. 450K = 281M / 66L = 16.5 gal. (US)= 17 mpg I think

It has to be a sensor issue. Rent a fuel pressure guage and use the FSM to go through the all the ECM related sensor's.

Ok I will, but yesterday the mechanic tested all the electronic devices and said they were all good. He said he detected a slight miss, but it was a very slight one and it was speratic. That is what his print out of the rpms were showing.

So he found nothing out of norm? This sounds so odd, I dont see how you can be getting 10mpg with a 100% in tune engine.

I need to read back through the thread.

If my ecu is messed up just enough that it throwing the firing off then I could see why it would be doing that.

Did you reset the ECM?

Doing this would put the ECM into a pre-programmed mode in which it will learn and self asjust. It will do this for the first 50 key cycles.

what about tire size and gearing? would that have anything to do with it? I know that i get horrible gas mileage with mine too. 10/14. I have 31's and stock gearing. I can cruise at 65-70 and get 14mpg but when i try to cruise at 75-80 i notice the jeep downshifting A LOT more and end up getting about 10-11mpg. I should have 4.10 gears with the 31's but have stock. Maybe this is why the mileage is worse??

Yea, but I have had the same tires and gears on the entire time. It went from 18-20 to where it is now.

Nah its cool thanks for the help.

Did you reset the ECM?
Yes I tried a few ways. I left the battery unplugged for a couple of hours. No change
I touched the ground to the ac no change.
I also did the touch to ground then turn lights on and key on combo and still no change.
