ya if it completely fails your tire will fall off. it happend a couple months ago to a ranger on my way home from work. driver tire came off and it threw him into on coming traffic, side swiped a mini van and landed in the river. not a good thing. everyone was ok though.

Damn. Good thing mines coming in tomorrow. I don't really feel like getting sideswiped and ending up in a river.

Good luck! The axle nut should be a 36mm and some people say it is a ***** to get off. I didn't have issues. Also you will need to take off 3 (13mm 8 point?) bolts behind the assembly, be careful not to round them off or you are SOL. You will probably need a bfh and a large screw driver/chisel to get the assembly off. There are some nice write ups on here for everything i left off and torque specs.

Thanks! I can't wait to be rollin smooth again. It's one thing after another. Pinion bearing. Driveline vibes. Blown shocks. Brakes. Tires. Bad hub. Etc.
Haha gotta love Jeeps.

Where do you guys recommend buying the hubs?? Iv got a jeep only junk yard where I live and they have good condition used hubs for $50 or o'riely has them for $72 new. I was just wondering if online would be better to buy then some of my other options. Iv had my hub grinding for months like hell and it never made me nervous until one of you guys said it would fall off lol. So it is now parked until I get the funds to replace it

Well there is a generic hub from rock auto for 40 or 50. Not listed for all models but should fit 90 and later at least. No abs but I got a pair and no probs

You can go to summit racing and get a good timken hub for under 100 if I remember right.in my opinion wheel bearings are something you don't wanna be cheap on.

Can anyone tell me the THREAD SIZE and LENGTH of the 3 hub bolts (the 13mm 12pt ones)
Ive been searching for two weeks for the answer. I am told I need to go to the hardware store. I wont be able to tell till I get the bolt(s) off, and then I would have to find a ride.
