Default Bad Gas Mileage Help

I have a 99 Cherokee Sport I6. The majority of my driving is non-highway. My jeep is mechanically sound with no after market modifications. I'm getting about 12 miles to the gallon. This seems pretty bad for a 6 cylinder but maybe it's standard for cherokees. Would a cold air intake make a difference?

Thanks,

Will

Na man, hardly at all honestly the best thing for you to do would be start off by changing the spark plugs and wires to ngk plugs. Then try the cold air intake after that

Like most have said... Sounds like its time for a full blown tune up (plugs, wires, TB cleaning, injector cleaning, air filter, fuel filter, etc.)

x3 on the tune up and cleaning the TB and sensors, how far is your drive, short? if your engine doesnt warm up completely by the time you get where your goin that would probly contribute

The I 6 4.0 from Chrysler will range from 17 mpg to 11 mpg the cold air intake will give you about 1 mpg better.

i just posted a thread for better mpg. I had the same issues, and got sick of it. I knew i could get better

Follow my steps and let me know....i went from 13-15 to 17-19
right now my calculated mpg is 17.1

winter blend fuel wont help
cold temps hurt it
short trips kill mpg

try my steps and let me know how you turn out
