Bad fuel float?

Bad fuel float?
My gas gauge won't drop below half a tank. Only thing I can think of is either the float on the sending unit is bad or it's electrical? Perhaps the whole sending unit itself is bad?

Generally speaking, the sending unit is the most likely problem, and would be the most common. There is usually little else to go wrong unless it wasn't reading or moving at all.
