So I bought a cheap used battery for my 93 XJ for 25$ it's starts up nice and smooth but lately I've ran Into where it'll start up and I'll drive it home after work it'll sit for 20 mins then when I want to take off nothing happens no noise at all, it doesn't crank over just dead silent, so I leave it for a 1 and a half go back and try it out again and it'll fire right up I need some help on this trying to figure out what it is.

Try tightening the ground lug on the battery, I had a similar issue and that was all it took.

Sometimes a bad cell inside the battery can cause an intermitten issue as well.

A buddy of mine checked out all the wires and terminals, none were loose and the terminals were in good condition but one flaw that we did see was that the battery is leaking it's fluid through the top of it.

Have the battery load tested and clean all of the connections. If you still have the same problem have your alternator tested.

Fluid out the top is a bad sign for a new battery, I would return it and get a slightly better one, maybe 40 bucks this time.

So I bought a good battery from autozone and ever since i bought it, it's hasn't happen until today at work left me stranded at the gas station I came back an hour later on my break and started right up, my friend said it's probaly the starter that's not getting a good connection because when it leaks oil it falls onto the wires that are hooked up to the starter.
