I didnt have much luck finding any so does any one have some pics of their XJ with bad ball joints? That shows what their tires are doing?

I have what looks like a slight negative camber on my 2000 XJ right front tire. Im wondering if its a sign of a ball joint slowly starting to go out? AND im HOPING its not a bent C on my axle. I also notcied the same right front tire has outter tire wear. The inner looks normal wear and has a gradual wear going to the outter...almost like a postive camber issue? But the top of tire points in.

Left front tire is fine! I checked my alignment not that long ago, a few months. It said toe was fine and camber. BUt anything could of happened from then until now. Just hoping its ball joints n not a bent axle C!!! Ill try n get pics up soon.
Can i see yours though? Or even just get some opinions.

 

jack that tire a couple of inches off the ground, then use a long pry bar under the tire and lift up hard. if it moves or clunks, it's your ball joint(s).

 

I lifted the side up and just tried to lift it up with my hands. It didnt move but ill try it again with a pry bar. Thanks.
Ive heard a worn track bar can cause a clunk when turning but can a worn ball joint clunk while turning also? Because i have a clunk when turning...seems like its coming for the right side too.

 

yeah, both will clunk, but if the track bar moves, even slightly, you will notice it in the steering wheel. usually the wheel will move off center slightly.

ball joints will clunk mostly when the wheels are turned and going in or out of a driveway.

 

Well i lifted again and used the pry bar but the tire didnt go up nor did it clunk..so im STILL hoping its slightly worn ball joints and that the axle isnt bent... The clunk does usually only happen then coming out of my driveway or turning the wheel near full lock while pulling into/out of a parking spot.

 

if you can get someone to wiggle the steering wheel back and forth to just get the front end components to move a little, then you get under the front and look at the track bar, both the axle end and the frame bracket end.
it may help if you cover the bushing and mount with your hand to feel for any movement.
it could also be the frame mount shifting a bit. you can start by just tightening up the bolts there, and on the axle end.

hope you can narrow it down.
