Default backspacing same as wheel spacers?

I was just wondering if Backspacing on a rim is the same as wheel spacers? I need to get rims with 3 3/4" backspacing to fit 33"s. is that the same as getting 3 3/4 inch wheel spacers? (the disks)

If you got a 3.75" spacer you would have more than 3.75" of BS because you would have to add in your wheels BS on top of the spacer. I would try and stay away from spacers that are to big unless you check them. People do run them with no problems but I wouldnt. But I would say try and find some used rims or something if you can or just get a smaller spacer.

different thing, but same concept.

you can use a wheel spacer on a stock rim that has 5.5 inch backspacing to get you to about 4 inch to clear some wider tires. but should be avoided.

just get rims with 3.75 backspacing to be safe. the lower the number the further away from the mounting surface the tires will stick out. therefor clearing suspension components.

if you need 3.75 to fit the tires you should buy rims with 3.75" of BS. for stock rims that originally have 5" of BS a spacer of 1.25" is required to get the 3.75" of BS.

Silly question, but can I fit 15" rims on my 99 cherokee? I was looking at my rotors and calipers and it doesn't look like theres a lot of extra room

99's came stock with 15's, so yes, they fit. the only reason you should have problems fitting rotors/calipers is if you're going bigger than OEM.

Even with 16's, the rotor size is the same so no worries on 15's fitting.
