Backflusing Issue
I have an 87 Cherokee Laredo that I am trying to backflush. I have tried to flow directions on the Prestone kit. The way I understand it: send water in the tube from the Thermostat and it should come out the other tube that comes out of the firewall. When I do this, Coolant comes out of the place where I disconnected the tube and not from the tube. It doesn't say to empty the coolant first. What am I doing wrong?
Also, I wanted to make sure that I'm going in the correct way. Water is flowing in to the heater core from the tube that connects to the lower side and the dirty stuff should come out from the tube connected to the upper side. Correct?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is kind of hard to understand your post, can you take pics or use MS paint?
If I remember correctly what is supposed to happen is you slit a heater hose & insert a t-fitting, & hook up a gardern hose to a back flow valve. Then you jam a 45 degree elbow fitting in the radiator fill neck & turn on the garden hose, right?

Since the 87 Cherokee is a closed-system I can use the yellow tube.
I inserted a T in the tube running from the water pump to the heater core. The hose connects to the T. Then I disconnected the tube from the Thermostat and have that drain into a bucket.
When I start the engine and the water hose. The water doesn't come out of the hanging tube. It comes out of the place where the tube used to attach to the thermostat.
That's not how it's supposed to happen.
