OK Dingo, if it keeps popping keep in mind it was one of those wires in the pic grounding that gave me the greatest range. (double aught Renix). I suppose a sensor could ground one too.

Yeah, i'll try that if the popping continues. And if that doesnt fix it i'll just extend the intake out of the hood and use it as a cannon when need it be
Relocate your AIT sensor to the air box.
Lean could cause the popping through the intake, relocating the IAT to the air box lets it read true cold air temps, thus richening up the fuel mixture slightly.
It requires removing it, plugging the hole it came from, and installing in it your air box and then extending 2 wires, great little mod.

Haha i want to do it, but dont really have a place to put it. I've got a CAI with vaccum lines on both sides.

My Renix IAT sensor is in the manifold. No clue as to the temp differences, but I would want it IN the incoming airflow, as the mixture is affected by it.

I want to put it on the intake, but the only space i have open is on the underside of the tube. Which would be fine, but i've got some blow-by and im afraid the oil may not let the sensor work correctly, or that it might screw it up altogether. If i didnt have blow-by i'd put it on there today.

My blow-by actually is not too bad----yet! At 264K though I can guess what's coming. (of course I have a line from the end of that copper to the rear of the air-box
). Sheez, there has got to be a way. I did see a pic somewhere where somebody had drilled/mounted it in the side of there custom deal... (This, V, fit's nice and firm in the grommet, but maybe a second stainless/zip-tie mount would have been good)

Every year the IAT is in the intake manifold. You move it to your intake/air box to read true air temps..
Obviously the manifold is baked by the header, thus giving false readings. Relocating it will richen up the fuel mixture slightly.

OK then! Guess I can take your word on it...for now. Just that I saw some guy's writeup where he needed to re-locate....something, thought it was the IAT sensor, when he did something custom with his intake.

this is the COMPLETELY wrong place to ask this.. but you have a vaccum leak. Check the vaccum ball (behind right side of bumper) and see if its disconnected. Then check your vaccum lines for leaks if thats not your problem.
